PTC Creo Parametric
Known previously as Pro/Engineer, it is the first software to use the parametric model based on features. This modelling type involves a sequence of processes for adding or removing volumes (i.e. features) on the basis of profiles that rest on planes. The parametrization of the dimensions allows for the faster modifications of the feature geometry and the setting of constraints and formulas to automatize specific procedures. It can be easily customized and integrated by additional packages dedicated to specific functions.
PTC Creo Direct Modeling
This modelling software uses direct modeling technology characterized by the absence of the Model Tree and consequently the history of the model itself. It requires a design approach that differs completely from parametric modeling. This technology speeds the design process and reduces the file dimensions.
Siemens Solid Edge
This modeling software allows to manage both the entire design cycle and the data management as it allows to easily switch from parametric design to synchronous design. Thanks to synchronous technology, Solid Edge combines a fast and easy direct modeling with flexibility and control provided by parametric design.
Dassault Systèmes Solidworks
This modeling software is characterized by an easy and intuitive interface that allows easy adaptation when switching from other 3D modelling software. It was developed for mechanical design and it offers both tools and packages to make specific activities easier.
This was the first software of technical drawing for a PC. It is still currently popular despite 3D modeling software becoming more and more diffused. It is currently used in architecture, mechanical sector and electrical design.
